Day trips from Dubrovnik 'can add fun to a holiday'
03 August 2010While there is undoubtedly a wealth of activities to be enjoyed when holidaying in Dubrovnik, some visitors may wish to venture a little further afield.
According to the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, there is a wide range of idyllic natural spots within a short ride of the ancient city.
For example, tourists could spend time in Mljet National Park - the only area in southern Croatia with such a classification - where acres of unspoilt land are ready to be explored.
Meanwhile, hopping on a boat and heading to the Lokrum, known as the Island of Love, is another option for romantic couples.
The island offers centuries of history as well as "the magic of the sea", the organisation states.
People planning a trip to Dubrovnik may wish to take note of recent advice given by Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, who said it will take more than a few days to experience all that Croatia has to offer.
