Dubrovnik holiday 'is one of Europe's bargains'

The ultimate time for a stay in accommodation in Croatia is arguably approaching, with the end of the World Cup in sight and the school holidays yet to begin.

Skyscanner has taken the opportunity to name its top five bargain destinations of the week - and Dubrovnik has made the cut.

It nominates the "spectacular jewel" of the Dalmatian coast as one of the best places to currently head to.

"There are endless rewards to be found within its famous city walls and some superb boat trips to the islands off the coast for those who want to escape for the day," explains the flight comparison site.

Croatia is surrounded by more than 1,200 islands - many of which are easily accessible from Dubrovnik.

And tourists can also take the chance to enjoy the city's specialist cuisine, oysters.

Through Skyscanner, travellers could book flights to Croatia with a number of airlines operating from the UK, such as British Airways and Croatia Airlines.
