Dubrovnik holiday 'popular with Bulgarians'
13 April 2010Tourism results revealed by Sofia Airport show an upturn in the number of people travelling to Dubrovnik from the Bulgarian capital.
Over the Easter period, the ancient walled city in southern Croatia was one of the most popular charter destinations - along with locations such as Cairo, Antalya and Dubai.
London was the most visited place of all with almost 5,000 arrivals from Sofia, but the new flights to Croatia were well received in their early weeks.
The Focus information agency reports passenger numbers were up by nine per cent compared with 2009 levels for the two-week period.
That brought 2010 figures to some 66,822 people - many of whom may have enjoyed a break in Dubrovnik.
Highlights of the city include its walls, theatres and unique boutique shops.
It was named as the second-most romantic city in Europe by the Guardian earlier this year, finishing behind only the Czech capital of Prague.
