Dubrovnik holiday to become starting point for exploring Balkans
26 April 2010People heading on a Croatia holiday in the future could be given the chance to see a lot more of the Balkans, if the country signs up to a tour arrangement with neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
The regional tourist agreement would see those staying in Dubrovnik accommodation taken on a route through Mostar, Sarajevo and Novi Sad, the Croatian Times reports.
Serbia's minister of economy Mladjan Dinkic tells the newspaper the tourism trail would include wine hotspots and former Roman imperial sites of interest.
At Belgrade's tourism fair earlier in 2010, Croatia's minister of tourism Damir Bajs discussed the agreement with Mr Dinkic.
The pair believe it will open up parts of Croatia and the surrounding countries that could be of significant interest to holidaymakers.
Using Dubrovnik as a base from which to explore the region may be popular with many travellers, as it is located close to the country's Adriatic islands as well as Split.
