Dubrovnik holidays 'increasingly popular this winter'

A significant increase in the number of people travelling to Dubrovnik for a holiday this winter has already been reported.

The Croatian Times, summarising a piece by Dalje, explains 15,600 individuals arrived in the city for a break during the month of November – a 50 per cent hike on the same period in 2009.

And more than 700 tourists were expected over the weekend from Spain, while special flights to Croatia from Bugaria, Turkey and Portugal have also been scheduled ahead of the new year.

This could result in positive figures being reported in terms of tourism over the festive period.

According to the news source, December is a great time to travel to Dubrovnik as holidaymakers enjoy access to the traditional Christmas market.

The Dubrovnik Tourist Board states this event is one that is sure to get people in the mood for yuletide, as it features wonderful decorations and a host of local food, drink and handicrafts.
