Dubrovnik 'is a charming holiday destination'
29 November 2010People who opt to take a holiday in the Croatian city of Dubrovnik will be met by a "charming" destination, in the words of one travel writer.
Nigel Thompson, recalling his experiences of a Mediterranean cruise for the Daily Mirror, explains he docked in Dubrovnik on the second day of his voyage.
For him, the historic resort ticked all the boxes, with local restaurants serving up delicious food and "amazing views" available from numerous locations.
One of these, Mr Thompson notes, is on the city's walls, which run around its Old Town area.
While tourists are sure to work up a sweat completing the 1.5-mile route, it is well worth it and a "superb" ice cream will be available at the end.
"And there's just time for a beer by the harbour before getting the tender back to the ship and heading for a little hammock time as the sun sets over the Dalmatian coast," the author concludes.
A good time to travel to Dubrovnik may be this winter, with the resort having already confirmed its intention to once more host a carnival.
