Dubrovnik is "obvious place" for stay in Croatia accommodation
14 July 2010The "obvious place" to visit when heading on holiday to Croatia is the ancient city of Dubrovnik, located in the country's south.
That is the view of Lonely Planet's Tom Hall, writing for the Guardian, who suggests it may be one of the country's top destinations.
However, he does warn the historic spot is likely to be busy as late as September, with the country offering a number of other resorts for those looking for a more tranquil setting.
For example, My Hall notes Makarska is a "good-looking town" just over an hour down the Dalmatian coast from Split and can be easily reached.
There is also Brela, just a few miles north of Makarska, "which has one of the mainland's best stretches of pebbles", according to the writer.
Other spots that people may wish to book a Croatian villa in for a summer break include Trogir and Zadar, both of which are to be found in the northern part of the country.
