Dubrovnik 'is one of Europe's newest hot places to visit'

Dubrovnik has been recommended as one of the new must-visit locations in Europe by an American traveller.

Web user Maureen, writing for Jiva Train, says the history and beauty of the country makes it one of the continent's top destinations.

She explains Dubrovnik dates back to the seventh century, ensuring there is plenty to do for those interested in the past.

But it is also a city that suits modern-day travellers, with its plethora of sandy beaches, ancient walls and the neighbouring Mount Srdj particularly enjoyable.

"Today, visitors and Croats alike enjoy fabulous museums, festivals, restaurants and a whole tourist explosion that has become one of the prominent destinations on the Adriatic," writes the author.

She says she armed herself with a tourist map and endeavoured to tick off all of the greatest aspects of Dubrovnik.

Britons interested in visiting may be interested to learn British Airways, easyJet and Flybe all serve the Adriatic resort from the UK.
