Dubrovnik 'is one of top autumn holiday destinations'

A stay in accommodation in Dubrovnik is one of the top ten sun breaks people can select this autumn, according to an expert.

Nicola Iseard, writing for the Guardian, rates the historic resort in southern Croatia as one of the best Europe has to offer.

She explains a trip to the city after the main summer season means the crowds are lighter, accommodation easier to find and streets simpler to navigate.

"Autumn ... brings out the best of Dubrovnik. It takes on a tranquil, laidback atmosphere, the weather is less humid, the sea is still warm enough for swimming and accommodation prices drop considerably," Ms Iseard writes.

She suggests hopping on a ferry to Lopud, a small island known for having the region's finest beaches, as an ideal activity to enjoy at this time.

Other islands that can be explored from Dubrovnik include Korcula, which is particularly popular with tourists.
