Dubrovnik is "so beautiful, so lovely and enchanting"

Travellers to Dubrovnik will find themselves "drooling" after setting eyes on the ancient city for the first time, says one writer.

A user, known as suntar, penning their thoughts for the Star Online, believes Dubrovnik is "so beautiful, so lovely and enchanting".

The individual also said that people who visit the walled city will never want to leave.

Dubrovnik's culture, architecture, food, people, ambience and environment are all cited as reasons behind its status as a great place to take a holiday.

Many travellers to Croatia are often left as impressed with the rural area surrounding Dubrovnik as they are with the city itself.

While the unspoilt beaches on the Adriatic coast and cobbled streets will remain highlights for plenty of holidaymakers, the nearby countryside, lakes and rivers are growing in popularity as they become more accessible.

Earlier this year, the Guardian rated the Croatian hotspot as Europe's second-most romantic destination for couples.
