Dubrovnik may be ultimate beach holiday destination

The sea greeting those who arrive in Dubrovnik for a holiday is the bluest in the world, according to one organisation.

Dubrovnik Tourist Board says the waters surrounding the ancient city in southern Croatia are "incomparably unpolluted" and so clear they wash the shoreline.

As such, they may provide the perfect spot for those who enjoy swimming in the sea to take a break - perhaps staying in accommodation in Dubrovnik.

Another advantage of holidaying in the area is that it offers a full range of beach types, from sandy to pebbly and rocky, the association explains.

This arguably provides something for everyone, with those looking for a relaxing time able to lie back on the sun-kissed sand, while explorers may wish to take a closer look at wildlife and marine species that could be found between the rocks.

And when those on a trip to Dubrovnik have enjoyed its beaches long enough, they could visit the scores of islands that are located within a short ferry journey of the city.
