Dubrovnik tourists 'to be offered view from 400m'
03 June 2010A new cable car that is due to open in Dubrovnik this month will offer travellers to the city a view of it from more than 400 metres high.
Meri Matesic, director at the Croatia National Tourist Office in London, says the facility will provide holidaymakers and locals alike with an opportunity to scale Mount Srdj, which overlooks the city.
She describes the amenities that will greet those who venture to the summit, including a series of restaurants, bars and numerous telescopes "in order to enjoy beautiful, unique views of the city and surrounding area".
There is also to be a 250-seat amphitheatre at the top of the mountain, where tourists can enjoy plays and other performances.
The cable car was previously open from 1969 until the early 1990s, when it ran into disrepair.
However, comprehensive renovation work is nearing completion and it could become one of Dubrovnik's premier tourist attractions once more.
