Dubrovnik vacation may be perfect for art lovers
11 August 2010Fans of modern art may find themselves flying out on a Dubrovnik vacation in a bid to see an exhibition currently taking place in the city.
The showcase, called Alberto Giacometti - The Sculptor of 20th Century Soul, got underway in June and will run until October 3rd at the Dubrovnik Art Gallery.
It features close to 160 works by the artist, who was a popular 20th century Swiss surrealist painter and sculptor, including paintings, lithographs and photographs.
And this may inspire people planning a Croatian holiday to head for the Adriatic coast.
According to Lonely Planet, visitors to the city should stop off at the various stunning churches monasteries and museums, or the beaches and islands that lie nearby.
The travel guide adds: "Dubrovnik is clearly special. A magnificent curtain of walls surrounds marble streets and baroque buildings that exude a pearly light in the Adriatic sun."
