Enjoy clean beaches on holiday in Croatia
06 August 2010Britons looking for a beach break this summer may want to consider a holiday in Croatia, after it was revealed the bathing areas in the country are on average cleaner than others in Europe.
According to the Croatian National Tourist Board, a recent report by the European Environment Agency and the European Commission included data on the quality of Croatian beaches for the first time.
And the body revealed 99.6 per cent of bathing waters -which mainly includes sea beaches but also consists of rivers and lakes - in the nation "met the prescribed quality".
This follows recent news from Slobodna Dalmacij that the majority of samples of 101 beaches in the Dubrovnik - Neretva county were evaluated as excellent, while five were good and four were satisfactory.
Tourists may want to check out such beaches for themselves during a holiday in Croatia, or even invest in seaside accommodation in the country so they are always within walking distance of a sparkling shore.
