Fine Croatian wine picks up industry award

A vintage Croatian wine has been recognised with a prestigious industry award in Paris - perhaps illustrating the quality of alcohol travellers to the country can expect to enjoy.

The 2008 Grasevina Goldberg was named as one of the winners of this year's Vinalies Internationales awards in the French capital.

Retailing at between €18 and €30 (£16.10 and £28.80), the Grasevina Goldberg is just one of a number of fine wines tourists could enjoy at a Croatian villa.

The premium drink was not the only Croatian winner at the ceremony - with Grasevina and Traminac also nominated by the event as wines to look out for.

According to the Croatian Times, Grasevina Goldberg has been successful in several previous award schemes, including picking up a bronze medal at the Decanter World Wine Award in London.

Some 100 wine experts judged the contest, which is held every year by the Union of French Oenologists.
