First Q400 airliner presented to Croatia Airlines
21 May 2008Croatia Airlines has received the first of its four Q400 turboprop airliners from Bombardier Aerospace, with an option to purchase two more.
The airliner was handed over in a ceremony at Bombardier's commercial aircraft delivery centre at Toronto's Lester B Pearson International Airport.
Vanja Roller, executive vice-president of maintenance and engineering for Croatia Airlines, was on hand to accept the aircraft.
He said it begins a new period of evolution in the company's history, allowing it to match capacity with demand on routes not suited to larger jets.
"Because of the speed of the Q400 aircraft, we can also deploy it on longer routes with little additional flying time," Mr Roller added.
"And, of course, the Q400 aircraft has superb environmental credentials."
Croatia Airlines recently announced that Lufthansa Technik is to provide component support for the Bombardier fleet.
They will be serviced at their respective bases in Zagreb and Hamburg.
