Five Croatian villas make European shortlist

The quality of Croatian villas has been illustrated by the inclusion of five of the country's properties in The Times' list of the top 100 villas in Europe.

Croatian villas in Dubrovnik, central Dalmatia, Peljesac and two in Brac were named by the newspaper as among the "sexiest" across the continent.

"If it's historic Croatia you're after, this is the place to get it," the publication suggests in relation to the Dubrovnik villa.

On the subject of villas in Brac, it says that not only is the "pretty" island and its beaches available to travellers to Croatia, tourists are also ideally placed to take a day trip to Split.

The Captain's House in Peljesac - offered by Croatian Villas - is "set on the water at Veganj" and "blessed" with an attractive garden.

It may be worth noting that quality Croatian villas may still be available shortly before departure, with the country's tourism minister Damir Bajs this week stating that last-minute holidays will be popular in 2010.
