Flights to Croatia may be behind Ryanair results

Budget airline Ryanair, which offers cheap flights to Croatia, has posted positive results for June.

The carrier enjoyed a 15 per cent rise in the number of booked passengers during the month compared with figures for the same period in 2009.

Ryanair currently runs services from the UK to scores of destinations across Europe and also serves Osijek in north-east Croatia.

Osijek is ideally located for visitors hoping to spend some time in Croatia's mountainous regions and in its national parks.

It could also be used as a base - perhaps with a stay in a Croatian villa included - for exploring neighbouring countries, as borders with Serbia and Hungary are nearby.

As such, some people looking to get away from it all this summer may find booking flights to Croatia with Ryanair and relaxing in accommodation in the country creates the ideal break.

Other airlines to serve Croatia include easyJet and British Airways.
