Flights to Croatia set to increase after airport expansion
18 May 2010More people could soon be landing in Croatia for a holiday after it was announced Zagreb Airport is likely to expand.
A contract for the redevelopment of the travel hub is set to be signed that would see a new terminal built, reports the Croatian Times.
The first phase of the work would see the new building constructed and bridges added to cope with between three and four million passengers.
At a later date, more bridges will be installed so that more people are able to travel to and from the Croatian capital, the newspaper explains.
News of the construction in Zagreb may be a boost to those planning a trip, as it could pave the way for more cheap flights to Croatia.
The first phase of the work is expected to be finished within five years and will cost 150 million (£128.3 million).
Dubrovnik Airport also recently announced plans to upgrade and expand its facilities.
