Food holiday to Croatia 'is one of the best'
16 August 2010The quality of food and drink - and especially wine - in Croatia is set to turn the country into one of the must-visit holiday destinations for foodies.
A report by the Sydney Morning Herald quotes Karen Ridge, the owner of Food and Wine Travel, who says the country is "really opening up with wine".
She also notes Croatia is one of a handful of nations that will become the new top food destinations in Europe, with Australian travellers perhaps at the front of the queue when it comes to touring the region for culinary delights.
The Balkan country offers the alcoholic beverage in significantly different forms to the traditional Australian wines.
UK travellers could decide to get in on the act by booking a luxury villa in Croatia and heading to the country in order to enjoy its finest cuisine.
Croatia's wine produce has been recognised by industry experts already this year, with the 2008 Grasevina Goldberg named as one of the winners at this year's Vinalies Internationales awards in Paris.
