Football manager 'loves Croatians'
04 November 2008A Premier League football coach has paid tribute to Croatian players ahead of his team's Union of European Football Associations (Uefa) cup match.
Harry Redknapp is willing to build his team around Croatia's Luka Modric in Portsmouth's game against his former club Dinamo Zagreb.
The manager has worked with several players from the country over the years and is pleased Modric and Vedran Corluka are at his new club.
Redknapp told sport website Sportskenovosti the team has to give Modric the ball as he is an amazing player with a good ability like a lot of Croatian players.
"They have produced so many great players over the years. I love Croatians, every boy from Croatia I have had has just been special. I can honestly say that," he added.
Dinamo Zagreb will be the visitors at Portsmouth's home ground of White Hart Lane in the Uefa cup match on Thursday.
In recent news, Croatian football player Niko Kranjcar - who was injured during a match playing for his country - has started playing for Portsmouth again.
