French first lady up for Croatian pop award
19 February 2009The French first lady Carla Bruni has been nominated for a major music award in Croatia.
Bruni will fight it out with popular artists such as Beyonce, Grace Jones and former Texas front woman, Sharleen Spiteri, for the best foreign female performer gong at the annual Zlatna Koogla awards.
The Italian songstress's - who found musical acclaim in France with releases such as No Promises - fame escalated following her marriage to French president Nicolas Sarkozy.
Other acts up for top awards at the event include the UK's Duffy, Australia's Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and American rockers the Kings of Leon.
Voting for the awards is open until March 1st, while the event itself takes place in Zagreb on March 4th and 5th.
Music lovers will also be pleased to hear the Invazia Indoor festival - which features a combination of electro and rock performers - will be arriving in Zagreb this weekend (February 20th and 21st).
