Futsal fans set to travel to Croatia
25 March 2010Sport fans may be starting to plan a trip to Croatia after the country was named as the host nation of the 2012 UEFA European Futsal Championship.
Travellers heading to Croatia for the event will have to divide their time between Split and Zagreb if they wish to attend all of the matches.
Zagreb Arena, with its 15,200 capacity, will be the largest venue, ahead of Split's 10,931-seater Spaladium Arena, which will also host games.
The championship is scheduled for February 2012, giving tourists less than two years to map out their futsal-themed tour of the country.
Croatia beat off competition from Belgium and Macedonia to land the prestigious event and follows in the footsteps of Hungary, which hosted the 12-team tournament this January.
Later in 2012, Thailand will host futsal's World Cup.
