Gay guide to Croatia holiday set for release

Gay people planning a Croatia holiday will soon have access to a new guidebook detailing some of Zagreb's most gay-friendly spots.

This year's publication offers information on 37 places said to be popular with the gay and lesbian population, compared with just 11 last year, reports the Croatian Times.

Such figures perhaps indicate Croatia is not only becoming a more gay-friendly society, but a break there is increasingly popular with couples of the same sex.

Kruno Pekas, the book's creator, tells the newspaper he is "glad" Zagreb is now a more welcoming place than ever before.

The guide will be printed in English and is set to be available from tourist information outlets and hotels.

Among the information in the guide that could be useful for those staying in accommodation in Croatia is a list of suitable bars and pubs.

Zagreb is renowned as one of Europe's most historical cities and has a population of approximately a million.
