German airline sees increase in passengers

Good business from the Croatian market has helped discount flight provider Germanwings enjoy a good 2009 so far.

According to the Croatian Times, the airline, which is based in the Germany city of Cologne, has seen a nine per cent rise in the number of people using its service.

It flies from a number of destinations across the UK and Europe and has routes from Zagreb to Cologne and Berlin, for anyone considering extending their holiday to include a second stop.

There is also the opportunity to fly from London Stanstead to Pula on the coast of Croatia.

Many budget airlines have begun to appreciate how popular Croatia is becoming as a tourist destination, with new routes from the UK to the country announced earlier this week.

Yesterday (September 9th), bmibaby announced it would be introducing flights to Dubrovnik from East Midlands airport and on Tuesday (September 8th), flyglobespan broadcast that it would be starting flights from Aberdeen to Durbovnik next summer.
