Great Britain supports Croatian EU bid
18 December 2008The Croatian prime minister said Great Britain wants to see Croatia complete its talks about entry into the EU and end accession negotiations as soon as possible.
Ivo Sanader was speaking after a meeting with the British secretary of state for foreign and commonwealth affairs David Miliband in New York this week.
The two officials also discussed bilateral issues, Britain's ratification of a protocol on Croatia's admission into Nato and the Zimbabwe crisis.
Mr Sanader said: "I underlined that Croatia expects the protocol on its joining Nato to be ratified as soon as possible because the procedure has been completed and all that is missing is the signature on the ratification document."
The Slovakian president Danilo Tuerk recently visited Croatia for the first time since he took the post last year.
Invited by Croatia's president, Stjepan Mesic, the official visit is intended to continue discussions between the two countries.
