Nearly 50 per cent of Britons are hoping to get away from in the UK and travel abroad to places such as Croatia during the Christmas break, it has been reported.

An online poll by Holiday Extras showed 45.6 per cent of its customers are planning to spend part of the Christmas break overseas, according to travelmole.com.

In addition, four per cent said they could not afford a festive holiday, but if they had the money they would leave the UK for the holiday season.

However, 49.7 per cent of the customers questioned said they love the traditional British Christmas and are planning to stay at home this year.

While there is no snow covering the streets in Zagreb in Croatia, the countdown to Christmas is still an important tradition in the city, it has been reported.

December is a special month for children and adults alike - parents reminisce and their offspring think of fairytales and Christmas magic, javno.com says.
