Head to Slavonia on Croatia holiday for horse riding fun
18 August 2010Horse riding enthusiasts on holiday in Croatia this summer have lots to discover in Slavonia in the eastern part of the country.
This is the suggestion of the Croatian National Tourist Board, which has claimed that some of the country's most famous horse riding centres are located in that region.
The website states: "In Dakavo, Slavonia, you can discover the state horse farm, which has the well-known Lipizzaner horses that have been bred here since the 13th century."
It also cited Istria and Dalmatia as good places for people with accommodation in Croatia to visit if they have an interest in the traditional horse competition Sinj Alka and therapeutic horse riding.
Other pastimes worth trying in Croatia, according to the tourist board, include golf.
It claims that the sport is becoming increasingly popular owing to Croatia's suitable countryside and pleasant climate, making it the country one of the golfing favourites of the Adriatic.
