Historic boat could entice travellers to Croatia
29 December 2009A historic wooden boat owned by an Olympic hero could be of interest to travellers currently enjoying a Croatian holiday.
The 50-year-old yacht has been renovated over the last three years by ex-athlete Dusko Mrduljas, reports the Croatian Times.
Mrduljas, a Croatian rower who won a bronze medal at the 1980 Games in Moscow, has used traditional materials such as spruce and teak to breathe new life into the vessel.
It is due to be relaunched today (December 29th) at a special ceremony with local sports figures in attendance, according to the newspaper.
The boat could be of interest to maritime enthusiasts - some of whom may wish to book a Croatian villa and visit it in its new home at the Labud Yacht Club in Split.
Sailing fanatics in Split this week may wish to also attend a new year regatta which is currently taking place and features competitors from 15 different countries.
