History fans may take in Hitler play on Croatia holiday
11 May 2010Tourists searching for a bit of history in their summer holiday may wish to book a trip to Croatia, where a new show about Adolf Hitler has opened.
The Only Failure Of Adolf H, based on a play by Hungarian author George Tabori, was performed for the first time last week, the Croatian Times explains.
It is now enjoying a run at the Zagreb Puppet Theatre, located in the heart of the Croatian capital.
Taking an ironic look at the entrance exam Hitler took at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts as a young man, the play mocks the famous leader, the newspaper reports.
A revival of Croatian puppet theatre is currently underway in the Balkans, with the show coinciding with the 80th birthday of renowned puppeteer Zlatko Bourek.
Travellers to Croatia will be met with a plethora of historical sights and monuments, while those interested in plays are often told to head to Split, where there is a large theatre population.
