Holiday in Croatia 'is animal lover's dream'
05 July 2010Holidaymakers in the southern Croatian city of Vodice have been enjoying their break to an even greater extent thanks to the role of animals in the city.
In particular, the pony rides on offer have been a significant hit with tourists, with locals charging about 30 kunas (£3.45) for a trip around the historic spot on board one of the creatures, the Croatian Times reports.
Meanwhile, Roko the parrot is proving just as popular with those taking a holiday in Croatia.
The bird lives at the Santa Maria restaurant, which may have experienced an increase in business since word of the charismatic feathered friend broke.
Tourism chiefs in Vodice say the animals and the city's aquarium are the highlights for many visitors spending time in the area, the newspaper explains.
With many of Croatia's premier resorts - such as Dubrovnik, Split and Trogir - located on the coast, getting out to sea and taking a look at marine creatures may be another option when on the Dalmatian coast.
