Holiday in Croatia 'is cheaper than staying in the UK'
22 October 2010Families who choose a holiday in Croatia as their half-term getaway this month will find they save money compared to taking a break in the UK.
Currency specialist Travelex.co.uk says a typical group of tourists can expect to save about £150 should they opt for the ancient city of Dubrovnik over south-west England.
The website's Julian Neal says Croatia has been a great value-for-money destination throughout all of 2010 to date.
"With the pound currently up 7.38 per cent against the Croatian Kuna compared to this time last year, a bargain is in store for families this half term break," he adds.
The improvement in exchange rates for UK holidaymakers visiting Croatia means those who swap £500 for kunas will be £34 better off than they were last year.
Dubrovnik can be reached with flights to Croatia from budget airline easyJet, further reducing the potential payout for a week in the sun.
