Holiday in Croatia 'offers chance to taste great wine'
24 November 2010People who book a holiday in Croatia over the coming months can be assured they will find an abundance of high-quality, local wine to drink.
A report by Argophilia suggests the country is one of the world's great up-and-coming destinations when it comes to the popular alcoholic beverage.
The online publication was commenting after a visit by the Assembly of European Wine-Producing Regions to the Dubrovnik-Neretva area, which will potentially see Croatia added to the official wine map of the continent.
"Croatia probably should have been included long ago – even if for the rich history of this particular region of Dalmatia – renowned since the time of the ancient Greeks," the article states.
Its justification for this is that the nation now boasts more than 300 separate wine-producing zones, making it the 21st greatest maker of the drink in the world.
Other trademark cuisine to be dished up to a high standard in Dubrovnik includes oysters, cheese and fish.
