Holiday in Croatia to be enjoyed by 3% of Europe

Some three per cent of all holidaymakers in Europe will head to Croatia this summer, new research shows.

The statistics, compiled by GfK and reported by the Croatian Times, mean one of every 33 travellers across the continent are set to enjoy the Balkan country.

Of these, the majority will head to the Dalmatian coast, which offers a vast range of sandy beaches, peaceful resorts and historic spots.

The majority of visitors are expected to arrive from the Czech Republic, with the nation making up 13 per cent of all those travelling to Croatia, while Germany (seven per cent), Netherlands, Belgium and Romania (all four per cent) will also have a large presence, the newspaper explained.

Approximately 40 per cent of Europeans will not take a holiday this year, but Croatia continues to grow in popularity among those who will.

Dubrovnik is arguably the premier destination in the country and is often dubbed the Pearl of the Adriatic by tourism boards.
