Holiday in Dubrovnik for 'a sight to behold'
28 February 2011People who take a holiday in Dubrovnik will find the city is a beautiful place and truly a sight to behold.
That is the view of the Hindu, which notes the resort's unique mix of fascinating history and scenery is a winner with tourists.
"Known as the Pearl of the Adriatic, this picturesque city has few rivals for its beauty and architecture," states the publication.
It goes on to name some of the highlights of a tour of Dubrovnik – Onfrio's Fountain, the statue of St Blaise, the Duke's Palace and the gigantic city walls.
But it is the palace that wins the title of "piece de resistance" from the newspaper, as it suggests it is "startlingly beautiful" inside, despite a "simple facade".
Andrew Eames, writing for the Independent, recently identified his favourites places for a holiday in Croatia – noting Opatija and Zadar as the most beautiful, warm and fascinating places in the country.
