Holiday in Dubrovnik 'means access to one of Europe's delights'

People who take a holiday in Dubrovnik will not live to regret it, if one fellow traveller is to be believed.

Sandy Peters, a respondent to the Daily Telegraph's appeal for tourists to nominate the delights of Europe, puts forward the ancient Croatian city as her most idyllic spot in the continent.

"Dubrovnik is a delight, especially in the evenings when the crowds and heat have dissipated. It is small enough to explore and is manageable for children, thanks in part to its bite-size museums," she writes.

Ms Peters goes on to recommend taking a boat across the Adriatic Sea to one of the islands that are located just off its coast.

Lokrum is a good choice, where one of the most popular pursuits is to try and find the 'hidden' lake.

She also recommends a trip to the city's viewpoint for a spectacular sight across the region.

Dubrovnik Tourist Board advises visitors to start a tour of the resort at the historic Buza Gate.
