Holiday in Dubrovnik 'offers plenty to see and do'

Tourists planning on taking a holiday in Dubrovnik need to add walking the city's walls to their list of things to do while in Croatia.

This is the view of Joan Scales, writing for The Irish Times, who described walking the walls as "a lovely experience".

In response to a reader's question regarding places to visit between Dubrovnik and Zadar, she described the former destination as "a lively place where there is lots to see and do", with the added benefit of having both a coastline and mountain ranges in close proximity.

Ms Scales advised the reader to visit the Makarska Riviera on their trip north to Zadar, as it is a "beautiful stretch of coast" that features white pebble beaches.

Tom Hall of Lonely Planet recently noted the popularity of holidays in Croatia has been surging since the country became independent in the 1990s, with more and more people heading to places such as Split and Dubrovnik each year.ADNFCR-1197-ID-800017662-ADNFCR
