Holiday in Split 'is great value for money'
23 March 2011Tourists on a budget may be wise to consider a holiday in Split, after the city was named as Croatia's cheapest last month.
According to a consumer basket calculation carried out by the Croatian Trade Unions, the resort on the Dalmatian coast came out as the most affordable of any in the country, reports the Croatian Times, following a piece by Slobodna Dalmacija.
The survey compared the cost of items such as food and transport in a host of destinations, including Zagreb, Rijeka, Zadar, Pula and Dubrovnik.
Goran Bakula, the NHS's economic advisor, is quoted by the news source as stating: "The reason behind lower prices for food products in Split is a better offer than in other cities."
Travellers may also wish to look at factors such as accommodation in Croatia when weighing up which city is best for them.
One potentially great time to take a holiday in Split comes next month, when the Croatia Boat Show is in town.
