Holiday in Zadar 'is star choice on Croatia's Dalmatian coast'

While a holiday in Dubrovnik is rightly regarded as an attractive option among tourists, the real star of the Dalmatian coast lies further north, according to one travel writer.

Janice Law, penning a piece for the Daily News, says the ancient town of Zadar is her preferred destination in the country.

She points to two works of art by Croatian creator Nikola Basic - the Sea Organ and Sun Salutation - as particular highlights of the resort.

Ms Law suggests these are among the most "ingenious" pieces she has seen in more than half-a-century of travel.

Commenting on other Zadar attractions, the author states: "The jaw-dropping medieval religious art collection in Zadar's Museum of Church Art ranks with Manhattan's fabled Rockefeller Cloisters museum."

She goes on to recommend the Dalmatian coast as an area in which holidaymakers can expect to enjoy good value for money and plenty of family-orientated facilities.

Zadar can be reached with flights to Croatia from budget airline Ryanair from the UK.
