Honeymooning in Eastern Europe increasingly popular

Eastern European destinations have been named among the ten most desirable honeymoon spots.

Research carried out by hitched.co.uk found that Bulgaria was in the top ten post-wedding holiday location choices.

People considering a honeymoon could think about the romance of a holiday in Croatia - with some of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic coast and oldest cities in the region, it is a great place to consider.

Darren Noel, commercial director at hitched.co.uk, said that many people take just short breaks after weddings and have a honeymoon later.

"If you cut down the cost of the honeymoon and push that back a year, then it is not such a bad thing if the wedding day is most important to you," he said.

Croatia could be for newlyweds looking for a short break after their wedding days because of its close proximity to the UK by plane, with flights taking little more than two hours to Zagreb.

The country offers some truly stunning scenery such as the Plitvice Lakes and Paklenica national parks that could make the setting for any romantic holiday.
