Jazz stars to play in Zagreb next month
30 October 2009Music lovers staying in a Croatian villa next month have the opportunity to see some of the greatest living jazz artists take to the stage.
The VIP Zagreb Jazz Festival will take place between November 5th and 7th and feature a stellar line-up including the Sonny Rollins Sextet.
Joined by Bobby Broom on guitar, Clifton Anderson on trombone and Bob Cranshaw on bass, the legendary saxophonist, who made his name playing piano with Thelonious Monk, is to perform at the Concert Hall Vatroslav Lisinski on November 5th.
The following day will see the Branford Marsalis Quartet take to the stage at the city's Student Centre Cinema (Kino SC), led by their Grammy-nominated namesake, who has carved an impressive reputation for himself as a classical and jazz saxophonist.
On the final day of the festival, Terence Blanchard will close out the musical proceedings at the Kino SC with support from his quintet.
This year marks the fifth annual VIP Zagreb Jazz Festival, with the first being held in the city in 2005.
