Last-minute break in Croatia could allow fans to see opera legend
10 December 2009Opera fans may wish to book a last-minute break to Croatia after being reminded that a few tickets remain for a performance by classical legend Jose Carreras in Zagreb.
The charitable concert is in aid of a humanitarian project - Step into Life - which has already raised almost £400,000 this year, reports the Croatian Times.
Mladen Hrgarek, head of Zagreb's Kaptol Rotary Club which is running the scheme, tells the newspaper: "This year, we have been continuing our initiative to give more young people a chance to get a university education."
Carreras's performance at Arena Hall in the capital city will cap a memorable year for the charity and could push its total above the £500,000 mark.
Popular Croatian pop star Toni Cetinski will also be appearing at the concert on December 19th, as well as Irish soprano Celine Byrne.
With tickets starting at just 100 kunas (£12.40) this could be the perfect opportunity to enjoy one of the world's most distinctive voices, as well as the sights and sounds of the beautiful Adriatic coast.
Carreras follows the Pet Shop Boys as another world-famous act to visit Croatia in recent months.
