London Symphony Orchestra coming to Croatia
07 April 2009The world-renowned London Symphony Orchestra is to perform in Zagreb next month as part of its European tour.
Under the guidance of conductor Valery Gergiev, the ensemble will play renditions of Prokofiev Symphony No 5 and Rachmaninoff Symphonic Dances.
Tickets for the highly-anticipated event, which takes place at Arena Zagreb on May 11th, are available now.
In a review of a recent performance, Anthony Tommasini wrote in the New York Times: "Mr Gergiev's stunning insights into these scores are enhanced by his long experience conducting Prokofiev's operas and ballets at the Maryinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg.
"London Symphony players dispatched these scores with even greater fervour and authority than captured on the recordings."
For fans of more contemporary music, it may instead be worthwhile booking tickets for June's INmusic rock festival in Zagreb, which will feature performances by Kraftwerk, Lily Allen and Franz Ferdinand.
