Luxury yachting holidays in Croatia move step closer
19 October 2010Work has started on a €17 million (£14.9 million) marina and yachting complex that will offer more opportunities to sailing enthusiasts hoping to head to Croatia for a holiday in the future.
Designed to accommodate 79 vessels up to 100 metres long, the new venue in Sibenik will also incorporate two restaurants and other facilities, the Croatian Times states.
Goran Prgin, chief executive of the NCP Group and partner in the development, tells the news source: "The marina will be ready by next summer, and we expect that next year we will complete the construction ... so that, as we promised, we will complete the overall project on time."
Visitors to the area may find an increase in boating results in more chances to get out and see the rest of Croatia's coast and the islands that lie offshore in the Adriatic Sea.
Sibenik was in the headlines earlier this summer when it was visited by Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria as part of her holiday in Croatia.
