Make fishing dreams come true on holiday in Croatia
27 August 2010Fishing enthusiasts have been urged to give a holiday in Croatia a try, as the country's tourist board notes it is ideal for the sport.
The organisation explains how underwater fishing was being practiced in Croatia as long ago as the early years of the 20th century, while the pursuit's first world championship was held in the Balkan nation.
But the question on many tourists' minds may be whether Croatia can live up to their expectations now.
The answer, according to the Croatian National Tourist Board, is yes, as a huge variety of fish are on offer and some of the most scenic spots around can be found.
"Whether you love fishing on the rivers, in the sea or underwater, in Croatia you will definitely be able to make your most passionate fishing dreams come true," the authority claims.
Another activity Croatia is becoming increasingly popular for is golf, with Balkans.com earlier this year suggesting numerous courses are already under construction in the country.
