Mambo carnival fever to land in Split
20 February 2009Mambo fever is set to arrive in Croatia this weekend with a one-off performance by one of the region's most eclectic acts.
According to the Croatian Times, a "humanitarian masquerade dance" will be held in Split tomorrow (February 20th), featuring a number of renowned musical guests.
Organised by the Dalmatian city's Hram cultural association, the night makes up part of the wider Spli'ski Carnival, where local residents gather in the streets for a feast of food, wine and, above all, dancing.
One of the most hotly-anticipated acts appearing at the event is Macedonia's Gipsy Mambo Brass orchestra - who have made the long journey from Kocani.
What's more, the entire evening is for a good cause, with all of the funds collected at the show being donated to the Split Autism Association.
The masquerade dance will take place between 21:00 and 23:00 at the city's Dom Mladezi centre. Tickets cost between 1.5 and 70 euros.
