Many people 'expected to buy property in Croatia'

Many people who enjoy visiting Croatia for a holiday are likely to buy a second home there in the next few years, a property website says.

The government is forward-thinking and encouraging investment in the country as much as it can, according to BuyAssociation.

From February 2009, foreign buyers will be able to purchase property in Croatia on the same terms as local residents, but this excludes forests and agricultural land.

Paul Collins, property editor of BuyAssociation, said he would expect a lot of people to invest in homes the country and go and live there.

"There is a huge amount of history and culture in Croatia and the climate is fantastic for people going on holiday from Northern Europe," he added.

Croatia has long been regarded by people as one of the most beautiful parts of Europe due to its sublime stretch of Adriatic coast, according to travel.iafrica.com.
