Medics enjoy business travel to Dubrovnik for conference
29 June 2010Scores of medical experts are currently staying in accommodation in Dubrovnik for the duration of a meeting to discuss one of the largest causes of cancer.
The group is in the Croatian city to talk about treatment and the latest research into hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) - which is the third-largest cause of deaths from cancer around the world, according to Medical News.
"This HCC conference is a significant milestone in the field of HCC research. We are encouraged by the range of topics and eminent researchers in attendance," professor Josep Lloyet, chair of the HCC special conference, tells the publication.
Experts may be hoping to make a significant breakthrough in the fight against cancer while staying in the historic city.
Some could be using their time away from the conference to enjoy a luxury Croatian villa or to explore one of Europe's most vibrant resorts.
Dubrovnik is nicknamed by many travel chiefs the Pearl of the Adriatic, perhaps thanks to its long stretches of unspoilt coastline.
