Meet Lionel Messi on a Croatia holiday
14 April 2010People planning a Croatia holiday in the coming months may just be lucky enough to bump into the likes of Lionel Messi, Carlos Puyol and Xavi.
The mayor of Split Zeljko Kerum is currently in talks with FC Barcelona in an attempt to persuade them to bring their top football stars to the Adriatic coast, the Croatian Times reports.
If successful, the deal would see the reigning European champions and La Liga leaders visit the ancient Croatian city.
"The project is demanding and there are many questions to be addressed, but we are on the right path," Pere Guardiola, brother of Barca manager Pep Guardiola, tells the newspaper.
Some football fans may see the chance to meet Messi - who many deem to be the world's greatest player - as one not to be missed.
Booking a holiday in the country could be the only way to ensure the opportunity is seized.
