More people taking flights to Croatia
04 October 2010An increased number of people seem to be taking flights to Croatia, if new figures are anything to go by.
Balkans.com reports all of the country's major airport recorded a rise in passenger numbers during the month of August.
Dubrovnik handled more than 250,000 travellers, a rise of 21.7 per cent on the same period in 2009, which surpassed its all-time record set in 1987.
Meanwhile, Croatia's main travel hub in Zagreb dealt with a similar number of people and was up 4.8 per cent, while the central Dalmatian resort of Split showed figures that had increased by 13.9 per cent.
Indeed, of all the country's airports, only Rijeka experienced a downturn in passenger numbers, as tourists rushed to the Adriatic coast for summer sun and rich history.
Among the airlines to offer flights to Croatia from Britain are budget carriers Ryanair and easyJet, as well as British Airways and Croatia Airlines.
